| An introduction to
LifeWork Renewal by its founder, John Berge (bio.) ...
Welcome to
LifeWork Renewal.
You are to be congratulated on your
decision to address the challenges of change and transition
now rather than wait. In the thirty years that we have been
dealing with transitions, it is clear that the sooner you
address transitional issues the more quickly your awareness
will increase and successful change will evolve.
REMEMBER, a transition represents
change. Change can offer you an opportunity to choose a
direction that will provide more satisfaction and fulfillment
in your life. It is important to note the following: Change
will inevitably affect our lives and those around us. It is up
to us to approach change with an attitude
that allows us to learn and grow as human beings.
Listed below are several
examples of change that can trigger a transition. The impact
of the transition can be exciting, frightening, and
challenging. The degree of impact will depend on many
factorsand consequently trying to control the impact on our
lives is very difficult.
The best way to minimize
negative impact and emphasize the positive aspects of change
is to understand the processes that help ease the negative
impact on our life. Events that trigger a transition
include:
Changes in your home
life
such as: getting married, having a child, spouse retires,
becoming ill, recovering from illness, returning to school,
changing jobs, becoming depressed; moving to a new home,
remodeling the old one; an increase in stress or tension at
home, a change in the content or quality of life in your home
life.
Personal
changes
such as: getting sick, being a success or failure; changing
your eating habits, sleep patterns; starting or stopping
school; changing your life-style or your
appearance.
Work or financial
changes
such as: retirement, getting fired, changing jobs; changes in
work assignments or in your organization; an increase or
decrease in income; taking on new loans or mortgages;
discovering that career advancements have dried up or are
blocked.
Inner
changes
such as: a spiritual awakening or reawakening, deepening
social and political awareness, or psychological awareness;
changes in self image or values; discovering a new dream or
purpose or abandoning an old one; or simply one of those
nameless shifts which cause us to say, "Something is
different, something has changed and I’m not sure what it
is."
LifeWork Renewal provides a
organized, meaningful approach to transitions--a personalized,
directed change program. I Look forward to hearing from
you...

"The longer I live, the more I realize
the impact of attitude on life. Attitude is more important
than facts, the past, education, money, circumstances,
failures, successes, appearance, giftedness of skill, and what
others think about us. We have a choice about what attitude we
will embrace for that day. You cannot change the past, the
inevitable, how people act, or what others may think or do to
you. The only thing that we can control is our attitude. I am
convinced that life is 10 percent what happens to you and 90
percent how you react to it. We are always in charge of our
attitude."
